Nokia Lumia 930 up for pre-order in the Netherlands for €500

The Nokia Lumia 930 was announced back in April but it's yet to launch in the Old continent. There are pre-orders in progress in multiple countries though, the latest to join the party is the Netherlands with the lowest price yet.

This one isn't from the Microsoft Store but from local retailerPDAshop. The Lumia 930 is priced €500 and is expected to ship on July 19.

The Windows Phone 8.1 flagship will be discounted on O2 Germany from its regular price of €580 (this is from both theMicrosoft Store and Amazon). Still, O2 will be selling it at €520.

The Nokia Lumia 930 can be pre-ordered at €550 from Amazon France and Finnish retailer Verkkokauppa. The Italian Microsoft Store is asking the highest price, €600. This makes the Dutch price the cheapest in Europe yet.

Nokia Lumia 530 image leaks, confirms 4.3" display

The world's most popular Windows Phone smartphone is about to get a successor. Meet the Lumia 530 and its first public appearance in a photo. The phone was spotted in a Windows Phone buying guide showing the available devices running Windows Phone 8.1.

No confirmed Lumia 530 specifications are available at this time, but we can make some educated guesses based on the image above. Judging by the size difference to the Lumia 635, the Lumia 530 will sport a 4.3" display. That's a slight bump from the 4.0" (800 x 480 pixels) display of the Lumia 520.

There are also no front-facing camera nor physical navigation buttons, as Windows Phone 8.1 allows the use of virtual on-screen keys.

Finally, it's interesting to note that the Nokia logo is present on the phone. Microsoft bought Nokia Devices & Services for €5.44 billion but it wasn't clear if the company is going to keep using the Nokia brand in its upcoming products. We guess for the Lumia 530 at least, things are going to remain the same.

The Nokia X did not have 1 million pre-orders in China

It looks like the news that the Nokia X achieved 1 million pre-orders in China is false.

RetailerJD.com set up a contest where participants could hit a “pre-order” button for a chance to win a Nokia X. The pre-orders didn't require you to register with the site or put any money down, which is not the norm for China.

This doesn't mean that the sales for the Nokia X will have difficulty reaching this number. The handset will be retailing for $100 unlocked, which is really cheap for a smartphone. Also given the fact that the X is Nokia's first Android smartphone, expect it to sell fairly well.

It doesn't change the fact that the numbers were fudged, or, at best, were misleading.

New Nokia Lumia 630 press pic surfaces

The Nokia Lumia 630 will give the entry-level segment of Nokia’s lineup a big boost. New rendered images give us the clearest look at the device to date and it could easily pass for one of the new Nokia Xdevices.

While similar, the Lumia 630 will offer better specs - a 4.3” WVGA screen, Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 1.7GHz processor and 1GB RAM.

The Lumia 635 version will feature LTE connectivity, putting it well ahead of other affordable phones. The base 630 model will be a dual-SIM phone, a first for Windows Phone, because dual-SIM support will only come with the WP8.1 update.

Note that the back of the phone lacks a flash for the camera (with rumored resolution of 8MP). The Lumia 620 did have a flash, while the 520/525 models do not. This is a strange thing to downgrade this aspect, considering all the other major bumps in specs, but as with all rumors nothing is certain.

Nokia reportedly has an event scheduled for April 19 where we expect to see the Lumia 930, the GSM version of the Lumia Icon (perhaps with a smaller screen), and the Lumia 630/635.

Another Nokia X vine tease is posted

Nokia continues the green duck teasing of their X Android smartphone. This time, we see a wall of cell phones barely able to hold back a flood.

Expect the full reveal to occur during Mobile World Congress, which starts on February 24th in Barcelona. As always, we’ll be providing up to-the-minute information on the event and all of its news and releases.

We gave a sneak peak of the Nokia X yesterday, and even posted pictures of Nokia’s first Android smartphone here.

It’s worth noting that the X will not be a top-tier Android device: it will retail for under $115, according to the leak.

The interface of the X hardly seems like Android, it looks more like a Windows Phone device, so even if Nokia is experimenting with a new mobile OS, it looks as if they are trying to keep a consistent feel for their users.

Nokia X A110 photo gives us first peek at new UI

For a company that purposefully steered away from Android, Nokia sure is making a lot of fuss about its upcoming Android phone.

The device in question, the Nokia X A110, was caught in China. It's supposed to join the Asha line and it looks the part – it has a single back button below the screen. That's because the A110 will run a customized version of Android.

The UI certainly looks quite different – obviously inspired by Windows Phone's live tiles. The Store shortcut will lead to an separate app repository (not the Play Store) but so far little is known about it.

Nokia will also be replacing Google's Maps with its own HERE suite and the Nokia X A110 will come with a free navigation license for one country. Nokia also has its own music service, so we'll probably be seeing that too.

Anyway, this is clearly the dual-SIM version of the phone, but there will be a single-SIM option too. The price target is under CNY 700 ($115 / €85), and there should be a minimal price difference between the single and dual-SIM models.

Meanwhile, Nokia's Weibo account posted another teaser image – this time it features a UFO (with the ubiquitous green X) abducting a puppy. Hopefully, the idea behind these images will be explained when Nokia unveils the X at the Mobile World Congress in less than a week.

Windows Phone 8.1 Action Center demoed on video

Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to go official in April during the annual BUILD conference. Meanwhile, thanks to Microsoft's WP8.1 SDK, various screenshots and videos have gave us a taste of the upcoming update.

WP 8.1 is expected to bring the long awaited Action Center, Cortana voice assistant, Swype keyboard, better multi-tasking, burst shots for the camera, Internet Explorer 11 with password manager, minor UI enhancements, etc.

Today, after various leaked screenshots we finally get to see the Action Center in action in a live video. There aren't many surprises here, but then again there's no need to reinvent the wheel.

April isn't that far away, so it won't be long before we see the WP8.1 update go official.

Photo taken with Nokia X A110 surfaces

There was some confusion around the camera on the Nokia A110, a.k.a. Nokia X, a.k.a. Normandy. Most rumors said 5MP, but when the device was discovered in the CamSpeed database the resolution was recorded as 3MP.

A photo allegedly taken with the Nokia X A110 helps clear things up – it's a 5MP photo. It was taken with flash, but unfortunately we couldn't extract much more info from the EXIF. For example, the CamSpeed benchmark also reported a fixed-focus camera, but we got no confirmation on that.

The Nokia X A110 is expected this month, at $110, in a variety of colors. The phone has a 4" WQVGA screen, dual-core 1GHz processor and a dual-SIM version. It will run a de-Googled version of Android, possibly based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Nokia teasers all but promise Nokia X for the MWC

Nokia just put out a pirate map on its Weibo account and it leads to treasure – not gold perhaps, but maybe a Nokia X A110 and hopefully even more.

The first image the company posted features a monkey on a tree and a monkey on the ground. The accompanying text points to the number of monkeys – is that Nokia's way of saying there will be two devices at the MWC? It could also be the Nokia X and its dual-SIM version.

The second image shows a tree with a DNA helix for roots. The green X can't have escaped your attention if you've been following the recent leaks. The tree motif does link up with Nokia's first invite.

And finally, the pirate map. There's another green X (negative space between the arrows) but the map itself doesn’t tell us much. The text in the post does – February 24, 15:30 (that's 8:30am local time in Barcelona, Spain).

Nokia sends out Nokia X Normandy to developers in India

Nokia is reportedly already sending Nokia X (previously known as Normandy) units to select developers in India. The company's first Android smartphone has been tipped to launch in early April.

Nokia would desparately need to win over developers if their Android phone is to succeed. Rumors so far have it that the phone is based on the Android source code but it won't have any of Google's services built in. This means there is no Play Store, so Nokia must create its own application repository. Nokia will also be substituting Google's services for its own HERE Maps location services and Microsoft's Bing, Outlook and Skype.

Of course, Nokia will be developing its own app store for the Nokia X. As the rumors have it, the store is codenamed Asha on Linux (AoL) and Nokia has already negotiated most of the top 100 Play Store apps for its AoL store.

Apparently Nokia is creating a smarter and more capable version of its Asha smartphones, based on Android.

It is also trying to keep the Nokia X price as low as possible. The latest rumors suggest the Nokia X will cost about INR 6,500 or €80 and will be released around the IPL in India in April, backed by a massive marketing campaign.

In case you've missed the news, Nokia X looks a lot like the Asha 501 and packs a 4" WVGA display, a dual-core Snapdragon 200 chipset, 512MB RAM, a 5MP camera, 4GB expandable storage, dual-SIM option and a 1,500 mAh battery.

Nokia has scheduled an event for the upcoming MWC in Barcelona this month and we guess the Normandy announcement is imminent.

Latest Nokia X press pic leak confirms its name

This recent press image leaked by evleaks seems to put the Nokia X name into concrete. The device was codenamed Normandy thus far and appears a low-end Android device bound for theAsha lineup next month.

The specs are expected to be a 4" WVGA display, dual-core 1 GHz Snapdragon chip (perhaps Snapdragon 200), 512 MB of RAM, 5 MP camera, dual-SIM support and a 1,500 mAh battery.

We last heard that a dev-version of the Nokia X is already being shipped to devs in India.

Rumored upcoming Android-powered Nokia phone to cost $110

The rumored budget range Nokia device that's expected to run Android codenamed "Normandy" will supposedly make its way to market at the very competitive price of around $110.

But before you get too excited, the Normandy will supposedly not be able to access Google Play, and instead will run its own app store powered by Nokia, featuring popular Android offerings such as Skype, Facebook, Twitter and others.

Recent leaks regarding the low-cost droid - also known as the Nokia X - reveal that it'll follow the Asha design language, and feature a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon SoC, 4GB of memoery, 512MB of RAM, and a 5MP shooter.

Nokia has scheduled a press event for the first day of MWC this month - February 24. Be sure to check back with us then for the expected announcements from all major vendors.

Benchmark confirms 3MP camera for the Nokia X (Normandy)

The Sofica team, makers of the CamSpeed camera benchmark, spotted the Nokia RM-980, a.k.a. Nokia X, a.k.a. Normandy in their database of results. They shared some specs that were recorded but are not normally displayed with the benchmark results.

The Nokia X that did the benchmark was the dual-SIM version and the detected camera was a 3MP fixed-focus shooter.

Rumors until now claimed a 5MP camera, meaning they could be wrong or the single and dual-SIM versions have different cameras. It's also possible that unfinished software prevented the benchmark from detecting the camera resolution properly.

The Nokia X ran Android 4.1.2, though it won't be pure Android but will feature Nokia customizations. Other specs for the phone include a 4" WVGA screen, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 4GB storage and a microSD card slot. Unfortunately, there's no info on what kind of video the camera will record.

The phone is supposed to launch as an Asha device in March. It even looks like an Asha.

Nokia Lumia 1520 mini emerges in a duo of leaked photos

The yet to be announced Nokia Lumia 1520v appeared in a duo of live photos. Also known as Nokia Lumia 1520 mini, the device is expected to bring the top-shelf specs of Nokia’s flagship phablet in a more compact for factor.

The duo of leaked images showcase the Nokia Lumia 1520v sized up against its bigger brother and what appears to be an Apple iPhone. Unsurprisingly, in line with its name, the Nokia Lumia 1520v sports the same looks as the 1520 phablet in a significantly smaller form factor.

Alleged specs of the Nokia Lumia 1520v include a 4.45” display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels (not a 4.3” 1080p unit as initially thought) and 2,370mAh battery. The camera of the Lumia 1520 mini is expected to be a 14MP unit.

All in all, should current rumors pan out to be the real deal, the Nokia Lumia 1520 mini will make for a nice replacement of the Nokia Lumia 925. Nokia Lumia 1020 will likely retain its spot as the company’s imaging powerhouse for a little more time to come.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 mini is tipped for an April release. However, we won’t be surprised if we see the device go official during Nokia’s MWC press event next month in Barcelona.

Fresh Nokia Normandy information made the rounds on Twitter thanks to @evleaks. The latest pieces of the puzzle are a couple of screenshots revealing the potential user interface of the phone. With live photos and press renders out and about, the Normandy looks to be a real deal after all.

The screenshots reveal what looks to be homescreen and notification area of the Normandy. The left screenshot is the homescreen, which is reminiscent of the Windows Phone 8 live tiles. At first, we were suspicious if this is Android at all, but the BBM app icon gave it away. The tiles look to be configurable and can either take a third of the screen (three on a row), or two thirds, like the Photo tile on the third row.

The notification area, which is on the right side of the photo, is a cross between standard Android notification area and the app launcher. There are alerts for the alarm clock, calendar, Skype, missed calls, gallery and SMS. In a true Android fashion, some of them are expandable, too, like the calendar, gallery, phone and SMS texts. They also give you quick action shortcuts with contextual menus for each notification.

Below the photo @evleaks states that there are "two ways to interact with Normandy", which could mean that those are the only two screens from the whole Android users are going to get. That's highly unlikely though, as it looks like those are two different views of the same thing - the homescreen with tile and list modes.

You can also see that the Nokia Normandy is going to be available in a dual SIM version, as shown in the status bar.

Nokia Lumia 929 Icon shows up on Verizon's site

The Nokia Lumia Icon slipped out from under the covers a second time – leaking on Verizon's own site no less. By the looks of it, the Icon will be a 5" version of the Lumia 1520 phablet, which coupled with the carrier of choice means this is the Lumia 929.

The product page (now taken down) describes a premium Windows Phone 8 device with a 5" 1080p screen and powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset. The camera is Nokia's new 20MP PureView shooter.

Basically, it's the 1520 in a more compact package, which means 2GB RAM and 32GB storage are what's to be expected, even though the specs page doesn't list those (the battery has been taken down to 2,420mAh though).

The page lists the price of the Nokia Lumia 929 (Icon) - $777. It's expensive, but considering the flagship specs and camera experience that's out of reach for other phones, Nokia can set its own price. Plus, that's less than $30 more than the 32GB iPhone 5s.

Anyway, we're sure Verizon and Nokia intend to sell the Lumia 929 with subsidy even though the page says $777 with 2-year contract. Also, 777 could just as easily be a placeholder (the device name will have to be changed for one, so this isn't a finalized page).

Incipio confirms Nokia Lumia ICON existence and name, again

Sometimes the easiest way to get a confirmation of a smartphone's existence is to just look at the accessory manufacturers who mass produce for upcoming devices. A look at Incipio's portfolio gave us just that with its case for the Nokia Lumia ICON.

The case was previously put up online but then quickly taken off, as we reported in an earlier story. It was now spotted at Incipio's booth at CES.

The device went by the Lumia 929 model name for a while, however, the case now explicitly states that the name of the upcoming Nokia device will be the "Lumia ICON".

Other rumors point to a January 16th official announcement from Nokia. Are you excited for Nokia latest phone?

Nokia Normandy leaks yet again, runs on Android KitKat

The rumors of the notorious Nokia Normandy prototype running on Android has been around for quite some time. Even though the company's Devices and Services division is soon to be acquired by Microsoft, it seems the Normandy rumors continue, suggesting the device might come to live against all odds.

Last month we learned the codenamed Normandy device is supposed to be an entry-level Android smartphone. The leaks suggested Normandy will be reusing the iconic Lumia design and will come in a plethora of different colors, just like the affordable Asha and Lumia phones.

Today the famous tipster @evleaks has posted renders of Normandy running on Android. We get to see a glimpse of Nokia's launcher, particularly the lockscreen, Viber and Skype apps. Judging by the Normandy's status bar, this should be a dual-SIM phone.

Another leaks from today sheds some more light on the alleged Normandy specs. As it turns out someone has put the Normandy through AnTuTu's test, so we can see some of its specs. Nokia RM-980 A110 codenamed Normandy reported featuring a 4" FWVGA display (480x854 pixels), a 5MP rear camera and runs on Android 4.4.1 KitKat. Naturally, the chipset powering the Normandy is Qualcomm Snapdragon.

If Normandy is similar to the previously tipped "Mountain View" Android prototype, then it might be running (as previously suggested) on the Snapdragon 200 chipset (quad-core Cortex-A5/Adreno 203 or quad-core Cortex-A7/Adreno 302).

Some recent rumors suggest the Normandy development is at "full steam ahead" and the smartphone is supposed to hit the shelves this year. Some go even further saying the team working on Normandy (Project N) will stay at Nokia and continue to work on it alongside other devices (such as the alleged Nokia smartwatch) after Microsoft's acquisition is completed.

Now is a good time to take a breath, lower your enthusiasm and take all this with a huge pinch of salt. The entire batch of rumors sounds way too good to be true. Maybe there is something going on at Nokia and some of this is happening, but maybe there isn't. In fact there is a good chance somewhere on the way a tiny rumor has completely gone out of control feeding on the hopes of the loyal fans.

Nokia 'Moneypenny' leak hints at dual SIM Windows Phone

The acquisition by Microsoft doesn't seem to have hindered Nokia at all as it continues to work on new devices. According to the latest leak by evleaks, Nokia is also working on a dual SIM Windows Phone 8 device.

Codenamed 'Moneypenny', the phone is expected to be a budget device aimed primarily at Asian markets where dual SIM phones are popular. Judging by the time on the screen, the phone could likely be named Lumia 630. Also, we can see that 3G is available on both the SIMs, which is rare as most phones have 3G on one and 2G on the second.

Not much else is known about this phone at the moment other than it would be the first dual SIM Windows Phone device. We'll keep you updated on this device as we learn more.

A Nokia Lumia 929 case put up for sale, complete with pictures

Cellphone case makers often jump the gun on product announcements these days - the Nokia Lumia 929 is the latest phone to be exposed by one. It’s the Armor Stand case listed on Wireless Ground that is specifically for the unannounced Lumia 929 and there are even images of the phone inside the case.

The Live Tiles on the home screen are arranged in three columns as opposed to mere two, which tells us it's a Windows Phone device with an extra large screen running the latest software.

Live photos of the Lumia 929 have leaked a number of times, along with even a video (now taken down). All the leaks so far point to a Verizon-bound device that is essentially a 5” smartphone version of the 6” Lumia 1520 phablet.

That means a 5” 1080p screen, Snapdragon 800 chipset and the trademark 20MP PureView camera. Unfortunately, there’s no indication of when the device might be announced. The US-centric CES is coming in a couple of weeks, but Microsoft-Nokia will probably hold a separate event for the Lumia 929 announcement because in the recent years both companies haven't participated in the trade show.
