The Nokia Lumia 930 was announced back in April but it's yet to launch in the Old continent. There are pre-orders in progress in multiple countries though, the latest to join the party is the Netherlands with the lowest price yet.

The Windows Phone 8.1 flagship will be discounted on O2 Germany from its regular price of €580 (this is from both theMicrosoft Store and Amazon). Still, O2 will be selling it at €520.

The Nokia Lumia 930 can be pre-ordered at €550 from Amazon France and Finnish retailer Verkkokauppa. The Italian Microsoft Store is asking the highest price, €600. This makes the Dutch price the cheapest in Europe yet.

Nokia Lumia 530 image leaks, confirms 4.3" display

The world's most popular Windows Phone smartphone is about to get a successor. Meet the Lumia 530 and its first public appearance in a photo. The phone was spotted in a Windows Phone buying guide showing the available devices running Windows Phone 8.1.

No confirmed Lumia 530 specifications are available at this time, but we can make some educated guesses based on the image above. Judging by the size difference to the Lumia 635, the Lumia 530 will sport a 4.3" display. That's a slight bump from the 4.0" (800 x 480 pixels) display of the Lumia 520.

There are also no front-facing camera nor physical navigation buttons, as Windows Phone 8.1 allows the use of virtual on-screen keys.

Finally, it's interesting to note that the Nokia logo is present on the phone. Microsoft bought Nokia Devices & Services for €5.44 billion but it wasn't clear if the company is going to keep using the Nokia brand in its upcoming products. We guess for the Lumia 530 at least, things are going to remain the same.

Windows Phone 8.1 to drop on June 24

Microsoft will begin officially rolling out Windows Phone 8.1 on June 24th. This should coincide with the launch of the Lumia 930, Nokia's upcoming flagship.

Just like other iterations of Windows Phone software, 8.1 will feature the typical 3 years of software support and updates.

Microsoft will make updates available for the Operating System, including security updates, for a minimum of 36 months after the lifecycle start date. These updates will be incremental, with each update built on the update that preceded it. Customers need to install each update in order to remain supported. The distribution of these incremental updates may be controlled by the mobile operator or the phone manufacturer from which you purchased your phone, and installation will require that your phone have any prior updates. Update availability will also vary by country, region, and hardware capabilities.

Windows Phone 8.1 brings a host of new features and seems primed to make Microsoft's mobile OS a much more intriguing option for consumers.

Save $100 with the Lumia 1520 and 50% on a flip cover

Thinking about picking up a Nokia Lumia 1520? Well the Microsoft Store has a deal for you.

You can get a $100 bill credit and 50% off the phone’s flip cover. There are some stipulations, however.

First off, you need to be a new AT&T customer. You’ll be getting $100 credit towards your bill payments and not off the phablet itself. The 1520 is $99 for a two-year contract agreement, so you will be getting the handset for free, essentially, if you decide to become a dedicated AT&T customer for 24 months.

The 4G LTE capable Lumia 1520 packs a 6” full HD screen, a 20MP pureview camera, 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and a quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor.

If you’re looking to pick one of these up, are in the US, and don’t mind shacking up with AT&T, hit the source link below.

Nokia challenges Sony to a #Cameraduel

Today Sony UK has tweeted its Xperia Z2 comes with “award-winning camera technology” and just an hour later Nokia UK has challenged itto a #Cameraduel.

Nokia’s picture includes the Finns’ best cameraphone to date – the Lumia 1020, of course.
Sony hasn’t responded to the tweet yet, and it’s unclear if it will do it at all. Once we get our hands on the retail unit of the Xperia Z2 though you bet we’ll do this camera duel anyway.

Earlier today Nokia mocked at Apple for its overpriced 8GB iPhone 5c launch and compared it to the five times cheaper and bestselling Lumia 520. It seems taking jabs on Twitter is a thing these days, but Nokia has been doing it the most for sure.

Windows Phone 8 supports 128GB microSD cards

SanDisk has announced the availability of the world’s first 128GB microSD a few weeks ago at the MWC in Barcelona. It is the world’s highest capacity microSDXC card. But is your device even accepting 128GB memory cards?

Well, if you own a WP8-running Nokia Lumia 1520, then you can insert and use such card.

A user from the WP Central forum called NoRomBasic has tested SanDisk’s latest breakthrough – the128GB microSD card – and it was fully compatible with a Nokia Lumia 1520. This means Windows Phone 8 supports cards up to 128GB capacity.

Even though the OS may know how to use such a big microSD card, some smartphone-specific requirements still may apply, so if you have another WP handset make sure you double check before you fork out the cash.

New Nokia Lumia 630 press pic surfaces

The Nokia Lumia 630 will give the entry-level segment of Nokia’s lineup a big boost. New rendered images give us the clearest look at the device to date and it could easily pass for one of the new Nokia Xdevices.

While similar, the Lumia 630 will offer better specs - a 4.3” WVGA screen, Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 1.7GHz processor and 1GB RAM.

The Lumia 635 version will feature LTE connectivity, putting it well ahead of other affordable phones. The base 630 model will be a dual-SIM phone, a first for Windows Phone, because dual-SIM support will only come with the WP8.1 update.

Note that the back of the phone lacks a flash for the camera (with rumored resolution of 8MP). The Lumia 620 did have a flash, while the 520/525 models do not. This is a strange thing to downgrade this aspect, considering all the other major bumps in specs, but as with all rumors nothing is certain.

Nokia reportedly has an event scheduled for April 19 where we expect to see the Lumia 930, the GSM version of the Lumia Icon (perhaps with a smaller screen), and the Lumia 630/635.

Nokia Lumia 620 finally gets Lumia Black update

The youthful Nokia Lumia 620 is finally getting the Lumia Black treatment. The update has been rolling out on other WP8-running Lumias globally since the beginning of January. Lumia 720 was the most recent phone to join the Lumia Black bandwagon a month ago.

Various reports from Finland and the Netherlands suggest Lumia 620 is getting the WP8 GDR3 + Lumia Black combo update. It is the last phone to get it, but still users will be more than happy to install it.

Nokia Black builds on top of Windows Phone GDR3 and brings various improvements. From GDR3, it gets Bluetooth 4.0 LE support and the ability to close apps from the app switcher menu, there's a rotation lock too.

From the Nokia goodies, there's a new Drive mode, Nokia Storyteller and the new Nokia Camera app (if not installed already). There are two new colors for the night mode of the Glance screen. Glance notifications are available as well. Since the device only has 512MB RAM, it will miss out on Nokia Refocus and Nokia Beamer.

We guess update notifications will start popping up soon on every Lumia 620 smartphone out there.

BBM coming to Nokia Lumia [Update: And Nokia X]

Nokia has taken to the stage at the MWC 2014 and the announcements are coming in thick and fast. One of the first announcements is some new apps for the Lumia platform, including BBM for Lumia.

BBM or BlackBerry Messenger has traditionally been limited to BlackBerry devices until it was made available on iOS and Android last year. Now BBM will also be available on Lumia devices, bringing it to an even wider audience. The app will be available ‘in the coming months’.

Update: BBM will also be available on the new Nokia X series phones, but that is not that big a deal since BlackBerry already has an Android app.

Microsoft considers bringing Android apps to Windows and Windows Phone

According to a report in The Verge, Microsoft is considering bringing support for Android applications to Windows and Windows Phone. Planning for the radical move is said to be ongoing and in early stages.

If materialized, the shift in strategy will aim to counter the lack of popular apps available on Microsoft’s OS platforms. Despite featuring mainstream titles such as Flipboard and Instagram, Windows Phone still lacks many of the popular iOS and Android apps and games.

Microsoft threw a lot of efforts in luring developers to create apps for Windows Phone. However, the OS is still well behind iOS and Android as their choice of platform.

To make the process work, Microsoft will need to make installing Android apps on Windows Phone an easy exercise. BlueStacks – a company which enables users to run Android apps in Windows environment might be the key factor on this instance.

In addition to increasing the WP market share and device shipments, Android support will also help Microsoft raise the profile of, and build consumer base for its enterprise and cloud services such asOneDrive. The upcoming Nokia X will employ similar tactics as well.

Everything considered, a final decision on the matter will be left to the newly appointed CEO of MicrosoftSatya Nadella.

Nokia launches Treasure Tags, Bluetooth tag key chains

The Nokia Treasure Tag is a small Bluetooth Low Energy brick that will keep you from losing your keys or your phone. It’s about the size of a matchbox, 30 x 30 x 10mm to be precise and weighs 13g.

The Treasure Tag has a squarish look and comes in several colors – it’s reminiscent of a Windows Phone live tile for a reason.

You can connect your phone – a Lumia, if Nokia has its way – to up to four Tags. Tags work as all the other Bluetooth-based tokens – if your phone goes out of range, both the phone and the tag will start beeping. Even if you don’t hear the beeping, the dedicated app will help you locate the item on Nokia’s here maps by indicating where it was last detected by the phone.

The app allows you to pin live tiles to the homescreen that are color-coded to match the Tag. Alternatively, you can use a photo of the item the Tag is attached to (keys, laptop back, etc.). Those tiles will give you updates on when the Treasure Tag was last detected and allow you to silence alarms (e.g. if you leave your keys at home intentionally).

Tags are powered by a coin cell battery (CR-2032), which has enough juice for half a year.

Each Tag will cost €25 / $30 when they go on sale globally in April. The color options will be Cyan, Yellow, White and Black. You’ll need a Bluetooth LE-enabled Lumia phones with the Black update installed. Third-party apps for iOS and Android will be available too.

Windows Phone 8.1 Action Center demoed on video

Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to go official in April during the annual BUILD conference. Meanwhile, thanks to Microsoft's WP8.1 SDK, various screenshots and videos have gave us a taste of the upcoming update.

WP 8.1 is expected to bring the long awaited Action Center, Cortana voice assistant, Swype keyboard, better multi-tasking, burst shots for the camera, Internet Explorer 11 with password manager, minor UI enhancements, etc.

Today, after various leaked screenshots we finally get to see the Action Center in action in a live video. There aren't many surprises here, but then again there's no need to reinvent the wheel.

April isn't that far away, so it won't be long before we see the WP8.1 update go official.
